hole for about 24 hours but hasn't zipped

Keep peeling off the shell. Then carefully move onto any membrane that is coming off. Don't pull. If it isn't coming, the wet it down with a warm paper towel.

Here’s the thing, u have 2 choices… open it and it may die or 2. Leave it and it may die. The risk is the same. If it was my egg and as I’m peeling shell and membrane I don’t see dripping blood…. I’m opening it.

Oh wow okay. I thought I should leave it to get out on its own, seeing as it was kicking about and flapping a bit. How would I know if its already absorbed the yolk? What if it hasn't and I just peeled it off? Has it absorbed all the blood? I peeled off a little bit more only one bit and then the outer bit of the shell was lined with blood which seems contained inside or something. Which part is the membrane? If it starts bleeding, can I put self raising flour/baking powder on the blood (im not sure if there's plain flour)

If it's been that long, it's either going to die or you can try to help it and if it dies, you did all you can. It's been over 24 hours, correct?

I just helped two assist hatches due to shrink wrapped chicks. One there was so much blood for such a little guy I was worried I was going to loose him, but it was just a vien from the membrane. How long has he been in the egg?

if the chick is making yawning/chewing motions with its beak, there is still some yolk left. If you cant see any chewing motions, or any blood vessels, I expect it is ready.
If you start opening the shell up more, and notice a yolk sac, put some paper towels into a cup, like a little nest, and (still in the shell if possible) put the chick into the cup, propped up a bit.

If you feel he isnt ready, or that you want to leave him to it, you can use coconut oil to dampen the exposed membrane.
