Holly, Lisa's and Lexa's Silkie Hatching Egg Countdown

It gets very dark and full around day 14 so you might be ahead of schedule. I would leave them alone at that stage of the game. Did you candle at day 7? it would be obvious then and they aren't too big to see into.

well I do remember that I did saw a chick in there but it was still dark andI could see the chick's eye because he got close to the shell but now that is already big I can't see anything! I do some veining but I don't know if the chick quit or if he is still alive so I don't know!!!

should I leave it there? but what if he has bacteria then he passes it to the other 15??? I started with 24 eggs and on 2 the embryo died (never developed but I saw the white spot) I had 2 quitters and I got one quitter today oh and another one had a blood ring so that makes and another one never developed so that makes 7 eggs that didn't make it so far. now im down to 16!!!!!

Leave it in there. If it starts to stink then pull it. The other eggs will not get any bacteria from it (if it is bad). If you are not sure leave it alone. I believe the more you mess with them and candle them the less of a hatch rate you have. The only thing a hen does is turn them, humans are as curious as a cat.
