Why on earth I have to pick the second coldest day to clean out coops is beyond me! The last time it was this cold was the day I decided to go at it bigtime too!
SO 14 below this am and I gathered all my warmed bags of bedding and piled up the breeding pens and coops--I love clean coops and the smell of fresh bedding...I always wind up staying in there to talk and pet alot longer than normal when its that clean. I especially love the cochins feathered feet staying big fat fluffy and clean. Usually it takes all of about 2 days and there big feathers are filthy-but Ive been on it for a good month now cleaning pens and such a few times a week making sure they are walking and laying eggs in fresh bedding-nothing like a spotless-poopless egg from the nest box! Makes shipping and eating those buggers alot easier:-) Right now its 2 degrees im numb but have alot of happy healthy babies running around and playing in fresh shavings:-)

Have a great warm day everyone~

Thanks for the inspiration - been debating cleaning out my coops today also. Only I think it's like 20 here.

It was on my to do list this morning as well, but quickly fell off after picking stalls and feeding when all of my cheeks were numb. It was
-14 here as well:( kudos to you!

Okay okay...it's back on my list for tomorrow. They're out as soon as I open the door in the morning. They get their fresh hay and scratch in the barn aisle so they have something to do all day when it's cold.

I hope it's warmer by then....brrr

The only bird I have that will venture out in this weather is my 1 duck-hes the first thing at the door the rest step way back...None of them budge- cant say as I blame them though!

I HATE when that happens! lol
I used to keep the wheelbarrow tipped up against the barn...now I keep it in the aisle.

My ducks like to "swim" in the snow...weird..they tunnel under it and swim around and pop their heads out here and there. It's funny.

I haven't seen any of them venture out of the barn aisle today though.
