Holy Moly! I have a BROODY! 2 babies hatched :)

I remember when my buff orp (momma) went broody twice in two years. We moved her and she hatched out the eggs. 5 the first time and 7 the second. I miss her so much.

Miss Prissy, Momma was in the shed with her babies and I was out there off and on all night long. Are you sure you won't be out there, just checking things out?

Not me! It is a long walk to the barn and there isn't any light across that dark feild. Call me a fraidy cat but I don't wander the pasture alone at night. LOL

I definitely don't think you are fraidy cat. I hate the dark, absolutely am terrified of it.

HMMMMMMM Baby RIR? I know next year that I will be cursing the broodies because I have birds from the same stock as Marlin Chaser both amerucanas from peachick and others from meyer and he has had around 6 broodies this year

So I should start planning now whose eggs do I want and what. I am think something blue - Orphs

and maybe some Amerucana's from peachick so that they don't have to ship. Then maybe some rose comb RIR.

Hopefully, we both hatch together today! I have eggs in the bator on day 25. I did a quick candle (I know, I know) and found a live one right away so I locked it back down. It's just a waiting game!

Thats good I hope that she has something under her that she is keeping safe from you giant claws

can you imagine how chickens must think about us giants that give them food and then take their eggs ! My hens actually think I am a rooster its kinda frightening LOL

This morning there was no sign of anything hatching.

We went out now that the barn is dark and candled the eggs.

10 eggs shipped - 3 never started, 2 started and stopped, 1 not sure

1 pipped !!!!!!!!!

1 red headed little chick peeking out from under her mommas big white wings!!!

I cannot account for the other 2 eggs.

Too dark for a photo but I'll get one tomorrow. Maybe then there will be 2 little chicks.
