Home and Barn Basics..

I was going to buy there, but went to Cutler supply instead. Ordered Monday morning, got it Friday! I think the lady at Cutler was very nice and even put an ASAP on my order since I had eggs on the counter. I got the GQF 1588 btw.

Shipping was a lot from Brinsea, I was shocked. But it still came up about the same as the Genesis with turner.

Genesis with turner (free shipping from GQF) - $184.80
Brinsea with autocradle (NOT free shipping) - $183.98

I was really glad I did not have to make a decision based on price, lol. I just ordered what I thought I would like better. And I should not have ordered anything either! And then I was stupid and ordered eggs for it! I could not help myself, lol. Now I will be BROKE for the month.

ETA: The website said $191.98, so it was actually a fair bit cheaper when I called in my order (I do not trust web orders when I want something in a hurry, lol)

I thought Brinsea's turn around time was outstanding! I ordered Wednesday morning, got a shipping confirmation that afternoon and received it on Monday (Florida to Vermont). I was thrilled!! Definitely worth the pricey shipping for same day turn around....

I just got mine today, almost 3 weeks after I ordered it. I was told it would ship right after I ordered it, then the end of that week, then monday of that week, and was told it would ship soon. I told them I wanted my order cancelled and they told me it was shipped, but no tracking number. I emailed for 2 days asking for a tracking number. Then I bought a brand new one off of ebay last night, and my incubator from HABB came today. So I guess I have 2 hovabator 1588's now. Oh well.

Needless to say I wont be ordering from them ever again. The one I ordered on ebay shipped today, so it will come this tuesday. Now I have 4 bators. lol

I do like the hovabator 1588 so far. I set it up and within an hour it was up to the correct temp. Will be using it as a hatcher, moving eggs to it next tuesday. The one comming this tuesday will be filled up with mandarin and call duck eggs.

I'm sure this is a stupid question, but I AM a newbie, so allow some slack, okay??? LOL!

When you say you use one incubator as a bator and one as a hatcher, does this mean you keep the eggs in one until day 18 and then move them to another so you can start incubating another "crop"?

If you want the Genesis, call Carolyn at Cutler Supply! She is fantastic. I get my order from Michigan to NY in two days usually. She is fantastic at getting stuff out the same day if you call early enough.

I use my brinsea and now my hovabator 1588 to incubate. I hatch in my hovabator 1602n as that doesnt incubate well, so I use it as a hatch.

And yes, I keep them in the brinsea or 1588 till day 18 when I move them to my hovabator 1602n to hatch.

Thanks! I guess I'll go ahead and order the 1588 and use the 160N for hatching... this is my first batch and I am having to watch the temp more than I expected. Ohhhh... I feel like such a BIG GIRL owning TWO incubators!! LOL!
