What works for me is to pinch your nose shut then slowly sip water for as long as you can. Works every timeI am trying this out next time I get them! Hiccups are so painful for me and last FOREVER.

That gets given as a reason for keeping the clock change here, but plenty of kids are already travelling to school in the dark if they have more than a short journey, and they're also travelling home in the dark because switching back to GMT instead of keeping to DST means the sun sets ridiculously early in the winter.I remember when they tried going to DST earlier than normal. It failed due to massive protests from people not wanting their children going to school in the dark.
