"Nice to meet you Helena" Emily said with a small smile. "I don't really like it here, but it's gotten better since Nurse Janette took over my case when Nurse Lidia was fired. Which nurse do you have?"

"My nurse is Nurse Taylor. Though given the fact that I don't have to stay in my room, I don't really need a nurse." Helena said and sighed. "Most people don't like this place, and I'm not too sure if I like it here either. It's understandable."

"There is something about this place that doesn't feel right. It's like, they say it's a homeless shelter, but it seems more like a mental institution. Once they found out I talk to myself, they took a particular interest in me and locked me in a room on the 3rd floor. If this is supposed to be a homeless shelter, why are there so many nurses? Do all homeless shelters have this many of them? I think there is something going on here. Something bad, and it has something to do with Dr. Mythe. What do you know about him?" Emily asked.

"Well, the people who come here are usually mental. The homeless usually have some mental issue which causes them to be homeless, because they cannot get a job. So, we are a little more of a mental institution." Helena explained, "And since lots of the residents have mental issues, giving them nurses makes taking care of them easier."

"And I used to be Dr. Mythe's assistant, so I know pretty much everything there is to know about him. But that doesn't mean that I have any right to tell you everything about him, since it's his business and not my own." She told Emily simply.

Ginger sat quietly in her room.

"Well, it was nice to meet you Helena, but I am kind of tired now, so I will see you around." Emily said, feeling a little defeated.

A door slammed loudly above, waking Janette up. She rubbed her eyes, smearing the mascara she had forgotten to wipe off, and sat up. The bright overhead light made her blink a few times to adjust. She swung her legs over the edge of the bed and put her feet down on the floor, but immediately lifted them back up. A draft crept through the crack under the door, making the wood floor uncomfortably cold. A hot cup of tea would be perfect right now, she thought. After a few seconds of debate, Janette decided to go to the cafeteria kitchen and make some tea.

Emily gathered her pajamas, the borrowed book, and a clean towel and headed to her bathroom to take a bath. She turned on the water and stoppered the tub. She undressed on the toilet while passing her water and thought about Helena. "I wonder why she's still here. She seems like she has some loyalty to Dr Mythe still, so I better not bring him up again." Emily flushed the toilet and got into the tub of hot water. She laid back and rested her head on the back of the tub. "Ahhhhhh" she breathed out. Hot water never felt so good. Emily grabbed the book from the floor and started reading where she had left off.

Janette slipped her feet into a pair of flats that were lying almost under the bed and stood up, this time prepared for the draft. She grabbed the sweater that she had tossed on the bedpost earlier and wrapped it around her shoulders and headed out. An even bigger draft than what was creeping under her door was blowing through the hallway. She quickly buttoned up the thin sweater as a shiver went down her spine.
There was a dim light at either end of the long hall, and a small amount of light could be seen from where the hall took a sharp turn. The lightbulb by the steps was flickering and as she passed by to descend, it went out, sending the stairwell into an eerie darkness. "Great," she muttered. Her hands reached out for the rail but couldn't find it. The hall lights weren't bright enough to illuminate the stairs so she had to descend in the darkness.

Emily's bath water was getting cold and she was starting to feel chilly so she pulled the plug on the tub and got out. She dried and dressed herself and opened the bathroom door. "Brr! It feels chilly in here compared to the bathroom." Emily thought as she climbed into bed and pulled the covers up to her neck. She was just starting to feel warmer when she remembered she left the book on the edge of the tub. She thought about getting up to get it, but decided to stay in bed and try to get some sleep.
