"Well, first off, you may already have been alerted of this, but you are now under my care. Nurse Lidia was removed from the premises due to her inattentions to her patients, such as you are very aware of," Janette explained in a gentle tone. She tried to smile the entire time she talked to hopefully make Emily feel more at ease. "As you are also aware of, you have been moved to a new room so you will be closer to my other patients. It saves me having to walk all over the place, plus you get free access to the cafeteria and entertainment rooms," she grinned here, attempting to make it sound as thrilling as possible. "Do you have any input into either of these subjects before I move on?" She asked.
"You're not going to keep me locked in here all the time?" Emily asked happily.

"You're not going to keep me locked in here all the time?" Emily asked happily.
"Precisely," Janette nodded. "I honestly don't understand why they had you on the third floor in a locked room. You're certainly not as dangerous as most of the patients up there. And, speaking of the third floor, you are not allowed to wander around all the floors, only this one. And if a door says Staff Only, Personal, or Private, then obviously you don't enter. Understood?"

"Yes. I understand." Emily replied, letting her guard down just a little. "Nurse Lida said my room had to stay locked because I was high risk."

Emily's stomach gave an audible rumble. "Sorry." Emily said, feeling her cheeks redden.

"High risk because you talk to yourself? That is indeed a high risk," Janette said sarcastically. "Have you eaten recently?" She asked.

Emily showed just a hint of a smile in response to Janette's sarcasm. "I haven't eaten since lunch, may I go to the cafeteria to get something to eat?" Emily asked.

"Yes, of course. But only if I may join you so we can finish out talk," Janette replied. She stood up and went to the doorway.

Janette held the door open for her. "It's not much better than this room," she joked.
Emily followed nurse Janette to the cafeteria. There weren't many people there, just a few staff members sitting around a table sipping coffee and quietly conversing. Nurse Janette helped Emily get her food and they sat at a table away from the other staff members.

Emily had a salad, a soggy tuna fish sandwich, a paper thin cookie sugar cookie, and a glass of watered down apple juice. There wasn't much of a selection in food since dinner had ended hours ago. Emily started with her salad which was nothing more than a pile of lettuce on a plate with a small amount of ranch dressing. "Is the food always like this?" Emily asked as she stabbed at the lettuce with her fork.

Janette chuckled. "Yeah, it's pretty bad. Hopefully they'll improve the kitchen area and food soon." She sat down across from Emily and set her notepad down. "If it's all right with you, we can discuss what I came to talk about now."
