Thomas smiled widely, "Perfect!" He said. "Brilliant. I am very glad you agreed." He looked to the humanoid and gestured for him to go back into his enclosure, which the humanoid did, and he closed the door again, locking it.

He then turned to Janette again.
"Janette, will you be my assistant? You will know everything about my plans, and we will work together to change earth and make the world the way we want."
Janette felt slightly relieved when the creature returned to its abode. She could now fully focus on Thomas. "It would be my pleasure to be your assistant, Thomas," she said calmly.

"Wonderful, thank you." Thomas said gladly.
"And now you know why people see things outside of this place. There are around fifty of those humanoids in the forest, they live there."

"How have you been able to keep things quiet for so long? I'm surprised the media haven't gotten to you through some slip of the tongue nurse," Janette said. It hadn't occurred to her that maybe patients weren't the only ones being "used" for Thomas's experiments.

"Wow!" Emily exclaimed, reading the last page of the book. She sat up and checked the time, not quite time for lunch yet. She decided to go to the entertainment room and find another book to read. When she got there, there were a couple people watching a documentary on sheep playing on the TV. Emily returned the book and decided to go with a science fiction book this time. She found two promising candidates and chose the thicker of the two books.

She was headed back to her room when she got a cramp in her leg and knew she had to walk it out. She kept walking, past her room and others till she reached the end of the hall where the stairs to the basement were. It was dimly lit, so she couldn't see much of anything from the top of the stairs. "I wonder what's down there." Emily thought. "Nurse Janette told me I had to stay on this floor, and things are going well with her, so I better not go snooping."

Emily limped back to her room to start on her new book and wait for lunch.

"Well, I don't tell anybody anything until a few weeks after they start working, if they don't quit. Then if I've already told them everything, and then they want to quit, I "dispose" of them. And I usually don't let well known people work here, so it works out." Thomas told her as if it was completely normal to "dispose" of people.

"So, that's mostly how I keep things quiet. Pretty simple. And if anybody tries to escape, the more wild humanoids will take care of them."

(We're all being open and honest now! XD)

(Honest heh heh. XD)

Janette tried not to let her face reveal how surprised she was. But she was only surprised. His words didn't intimidate or dissuade her from wishing to help him. "So, I suppose Nurse Lidia didn't make it back to her 9-5 job in the city?" She smirked.

"Ha. No, she did not." Thomas told her.
"Oh yeah, the new workers are supposed to be here tomorrow or the next day. So if suddenly there are lots of people who don't know what they're doing, that's why." He laughed.

"How will they be transported out here if the humanoids are as aggressive as you say?" Janette asked. It seemed to her they would be attacked, even in a vehicle.

(Oooohhh, is there a secret passage under the forest?

"Each humanoid has a bracelet on their wrist. If they get too close to the vehicle, let's say 20 feet, then the bracelet will quickly shock them and they'll go on their way since the vehicle is actually probably not worth it. They're very smart, so usually around the second time of being shocked they just avoid vehicles in general." Thomas quickly explained to her.
"Though the shocking doesn't hurt them. It's just unpleasant. And, like humans, they like to avoid unpleasant things."
