Mia sat on her bed like she always did, staring in the direction of the window but always unable to see the light. She constantly felt like she was being watched, or she felt needlessly scared. Nothing was right in her mind, something was out of place or dangerous or she was doing something wrong. Mia dwelled on every little thing she had ever done wrong, or how she had never and probably would never accomplish anything. She was blind, she was a messed up human being, and she was useless.
Mia started breathing a little heavier, suddenly feeling panicked, and she couldn't stop it. She wanted out of the room, her paranoia was getting the best of her.
She desperately grabbed the doorknob and turned it, but it was locked as always. She was blind, why would she be allowed out of the room?
Walking into the bathroom, Mia turned to where she knew the mirror was. She never really looked into a mirror, it was pointless. She couldn't see, so the mirror was completely useless.
Just like her.
Suddenly, out of impulse, Mia formed her hand into a fist, and hit the mirror as hard as she could. It shattered, and the reflective glass pierced her knuckles. There was a loud crash as all of the glass hit the floor.
Mia's nurse came into the room quickly, when she had heard the noise.
"Ms. Hart??" She called, and walked into the bathroom quickly. She saw the blood all over the floor, and the glass stuck in Mia's hand.
"What did you do?? Mia, come over here." The nurse said. "Just walk forward."
Mia shook her head and stepped back a little. "No..." Her face was ghostly white, and her eyes were wide, but for some reason she was smiling a little.
The nurse was rather confused. Mia usually just did whatever she was told.
"Mia, your hand is bleeding profusely, come over here."
"No...No, I'm fine."
The nurse was losing her patience, and walked over to Mia, grabbing her arm. But when Mia felt her arm being grabbed, she snapped. She was tired of being led like a dog.
She raised her cane and hit her nurse with it.
"I said I'm fine!"
When her nurse fell, Mia ran out of the bathroom and went to try and open the door again. But the door was already open, it hadn't been closed when the nurse came in.
She walked out of the room and closed the door behind her. She tried to walk as normally as possible as she used her cane to search around, and stop her from hitting anything. Her hand was still bleeding, but she paid no attention to it.
