Look closely at the bait stations and see if they are actually taking the bait, or just crawling around over it.
Sugar ant and the like go for two types of feed, sweet and greasy.
If your particular ants are looking for grease, all the sweet bait in the world will not work. So, if you put a greasy spoon down and they swarm it, consider switching baits.
Being a little thick, it took me a bit to decide to follow my own advice this year when we were invaded with sugar ants. Finally took apart one of the borax/peanut butter stations, mixed it in with some canned cat food, and reset. The ants went wild over the bait, and were gone in about 2 days.
