Home Made Waterer - Inexpensive too!!

I have lots of outdoor spickets. Can I rig this up straight from the hose instead of using a bucket?

Thanks for the pictures! I had read about this, but could not visualize. I use a hamster bottle in the chicken hutch at night, but I would like something better for the duckhouse and outdoors.

We use a 15gal. tank for our water supply

I don't think you can hook this up directly to a pressurized hose. The chicken would go to get a drink, get sprayed in the face, and then probably run for the hills. This system HAS to be gravity fed.

Hi from Ga. Hi JackE I was looking at your pretty coop in the snow ( we don't have it here ) Do you let the chickens out to walk in the snow and do they like it?

I would open the door for them every day. They would not come out if the snow was up on the ramp. None of them liked deep (To them we are talking only 3-4") snow. But I can understand that, With their short legs, they can become easily stuck. Some of them absolutly hated walking on any snow at all, Some didn't mind it so much.

I was thinking the same thing, but tested it prior to find the best angle so they get water and it wont leak. Moving them straight down might require me to move it up.

Have quite figured that one out. . . . .yet!

I did find a wire heater that is 15 feet long and simply wraps around whatever you need to warm. It only comes on below 32 degrees and warms to just above freezing. Once I remember where I found it I will post it for all to see.

Wow, thanks for that info! I will be spray painting it today!! I heard that for every 5 gallons you can add a few ounces of bleach that will help disinfect the water?? Not sure the ratio - - -
