ok as far as algie is concerned a tble spoon per gal of water will work or acv too or drop a couple copper pipe fitings in the bucket
you can put a valve at the end and drain for cleaning/flushing or for winter shut down
i use bucket deicers in mine but i dont have pipe to deal with as my nips are in the bottom of the buckets i also put out a heated dog dish in the winter too

ive tried fishtank heaters but its dicey as some will over heat and explode if water level is too low and some just quit days after use
so the round aluminum deicer works best for me

i have different hight chooks too so i have 2 buckets hanging on shepards hooks ane higher than the other

I took a gallon ozark water bottle popped in one of those poultry nipples in the top. Hung it in my brooder. My 5 day old chicks started drinking from it in about 45 minutes. Not sure if all 14 of my chicks are drinking from it, so I left the other waterer in there for now.
