Good luck in sorting out this very troubling situation.

I am following the thread with great interest, and want to say how impressed I am with your composure, compasion, and determination. Things are so different here it is hard to grasp how this could come to pass. I hope the police will be succesfull in helping you.

I must also say that one poster here has more of an insight than most of you and should be heeded. welsummerchicks has a clear view of the mindset we find here imho.

My thoughts also go out to the couple. Perhaps once inside the system they may get some aproprate assistance from whatever system you guys have in place for those with disabilities.

I would want them removed.Only one step away from getting into your house,and then all bets are off that the poor person wouldn't kill you and your loved ones.Sometimes good people do very bad things when the situation is right.

the other bad thing about having squaters so close... they'll be doing their "business" in your yard. The more "familiar" you become to them, the more they'll feel entitled to your property and possessions.

For me, there's a difference between inviting them into your place and allowing them to break in. If a neighbor came to me for help and I helped them, I wouldn't expect them to break into my house. And, if they did, I would call the cops. My neighbors are welcome when I am home and invite them in, but not when I'm out and lock my door.
