We had some doggy steps that were plastic and came with a washable cover. They lasted many moons but needed replacement so hubs built some with scrap wood. Tge first time around there was no metal trim but the puppy tore the cover off. So it has been recovered and reinforced and we no longer have that problem :)

OK, new project coming up.
I need to raise my rider lawn mower high enough to get under it with an impact wrench to get the blades off.
there are several expensive ramps on amazon
I am going to make ramps with two 2x8 boards.
If these work, it should cost me less than $20.oo total.
that is how much the two 2x8's cost. .
I can't work on them right now because DW just took off to town with the pick up truck..
I will be taking pictures if it works out..

when you're blessed with a 5 gallon bucket full of plums, what do you do ??
Make plum jelly.
I never did it before. Did lots of searching on you tube.
I didn't like the thought of cutting each plum in half, pulling out the pit and cutting the plum into tiny bits.
not a 5 gallon bucketful of them!!! no way.
so I did it my way.put 5 pounds of plums in a kettle, added water until I could see it rising up between the plums. bring the water to a boil and then simmer it for about 20 minutes.
stir every few minutes.
then when all is reduced to mush, pour it into my nylon wine juicer strainer bag.
when it stops draining, I ended up with 8 cups of juice. the whole process took less than an hour.. now that I know what I am doing I can cut the time more..
from there on just use the juice according to the recipe on the pectin package.
I used the Pomano pectin. you don't have to add any sugar at all if you don't want to.
I added just 2 cups to the 8 cups of juice. made it sort of sweet&sour..
should make good glaze for duck or beef.
I ended up with 4 and a half pints.
I think I have enough plums for two more batches..
only cost was pectin, sugar and lids.
less than $1/per pint ..

14 & 1/2 pints of plum jelly (or syrup) time will tell.. I hope it jells..

This idea/suggestion was kind of floating around in my mind. Since you have individual jars of plum product, and you desire jelly/jam , you can try one jar content, and heat up and add some gelatin. (flavored or unflavored, experiment) Another option would be to add corn or potato starch. Contents is brought to boil, , once cooled, should be possibly the consistency that would fit Jelly/jam. Just an IDEA:idunno

cavemanrich, those sound like they might work.
most of the jars did jell OK.
for the ones that didn't, I am going to use those for making plum glaze for ham..
right now I am waiting for the apple pie to finish baking. that will be my highlight for the day..
I set up the apple peeler/corer/slicer machine and made 9 cups of slices.
Annie made the crust..
this is definitely one instance where ho-made is better than boughten..

Great idea on steps
I have a litter of 10 pups and stupid me bought plastic steps for them to learn heights but I didn't account for them pushing each other off and falling getting hurt. Ughhh wasted cash unless I can figure out a way to add wood up sides and ramp down other from top. I guess I can buy some thin bords and washers n bolt wood on. Idk .I wasted 40 bucks already
