for another baby, another story. We have been Homechooling officially for 1 yr,I hs him in K and then he went to ps and I joined everything so that I could be there and well I found out and now we hs,OH YEAH.I LOVE HOMESCHOOLING in the country. We can go outside and school stop at anytime and play with any of the farm animals. How many public school classrooms have 2 incubators with chicks hatching,WE DO!!!!!!Whenever we hear a teeny tiny noise,we STOP and WATCH whats happening, now that is home schoolin.I do miss the talkin with soo many other mamas all the time but it is worth it.We do so much during the day, during farmers market time our son is in the garden with us helpin out and when I am beaking breads and sweets for the market he helps as well.He is getting the "real life"part of schoolin.{{{{Now I am not bashin PS,it is just not for us}}}}I recently decided to start a blog about our Life at Meadow Creek

For my family, homeschooling works really well.

There are a lot of options for homeschooling today. My daughters are going to use Keystone for their high school. Keystone is an accredited on line school. So in a way, my kids will be doing public school at home.

Hi! I homeschool my 6 year old son (and my 4 year old daughter because she wants to "have a lesson" too). It's been GREAT! Besides the lack of "me" time.

We're using What Your 1st Grader (2nd etc) Needs to Know, by E.D. Hirsch as a guideline and we supplement with work books and LOTS and LOTS of books from the library. We do endless amounts of life learning. My son is a true scientist. He loves anything scientific especially biology. We have a fantastic homeshool group in my area that we meet with for field trips and workshops.
I do wonder how all of you handle it when you're out in public with your homeschooled children and someone says to them "shouldn't you be in school." or "no school today?" I've tried telling them we homeschool and I get the weirdest looks. It makes me feel uncomfortable and I hope it isn't affecting my son too.

In the south, a lot of people home school. Perhaps the region where you are from has something to with how others view homeschooling.

Most people don't even know it exists and I think they're confused about what that mean to homeschool. Others who have heard of it assume that it's a religious thing.

My two are in a charter program so when they say they go to the school for the gifted, people nod then quiz them.

I am so happy:weee that we are starting off with our chatting. I get that same thing if we decide to go get the grocery shopping out of the way {{"is school out today"}}We try to avoid it but I have said that we Homeschool or he goes to a Private school.Homeschooling is a private school.People need to mind their own business or we could use that to our advantage and educate them on homeschooling.Don't worry,as long as you are doing what your state requires thatn you are okay.
Our curriculum is very ECLECTIC,I pull from here and there at this moment. The main book I use is HOME EDUCATION CURRICULUM then I just add things to every subject. Itry to add a lot of Home Learning(I consider this like cleaning, baking, yard and garden work and then animals and barn work.We have lots and lots of chicks and hens at this time,we have 2 incubators going,3 Angora Goats,1 Angora Rabbit Male,3 cats,4 dogs, 1 guinea pig,1 goldfish and 2 boer goats that are for sale.
Jamie:thumbsup

My mom homeschools us kids and everyone loves it. She would post on this thread, but she is having technical difficulties with her user. I give alot of credit to all the mom's that put the time and effort into personally overseeing their kids education.

I will graduate next year and my sister is not far behind. Mom worries she'll be bored out of her wits when she doesn't have "schooling" any more.

Homeschooling gives me a chance to work at "real life" education. I have more time to care for my livestock and can volunteer more often. I
