Homesteaders

I figure I'm going to have to tie her up and start with a .22 at the house, not target practice my .45 revolver at my brothers while she was loose. She hit the road close to 30mph and kept going. The truck hit 60 before I caught site of her again.lol I thought she was heading for the highway. Colt peacemaker with a short barrel makes a little boom.

Woohoo!!! 11 weeks!! I can start putting my "green house " together. I can start everything but my root vegetables.. I am so excited to start my garden again.
Every morning, when I get up, I get to say, spring is on the way!!!! Every day past Dec. 21 is one day closer to spring. I saw a flock of Robins yesterday. This is the first time I've ever seen them this time of year. I've been told that some Robins do winter over here, but I've never seen them. They were working over the rotten apples in an orchard. I doubt we'll have bare ground until March.

Bottom photo is my Guido with "his" baby new little sister Isabella.
Top photo is Guido with his little big sister Bailey that we lost to CCD three months ago.
He is also my ESA.
He checks on "his" flock every morning.
The trick with him was introducing my chickens as "babies" and brooding them for the first bit in the house. Maaaaaaan was he peeved when we moves them outside l
I agree. Dogs seem to accept babies in the house as part of their pact.

my rottweiler stole my youngest daughter the day she came home from the hospital. Almost 10 years later and he's still protective of her, all of us actually but her to a fault. He tried protecting her from me when she was younger and I almost lost it on him. She was learning to walk and tried climbing stairs, started to slip so I ran to save her. Poor Scrappy thought I was going to hurt her because I yelled. He was just doing his job though.

So wonderful to have a dog like that with the kids. It's a scary thing bringing home an infant with a BIG dog at home, always something in the back of your brain wondering if the dog will accept and be gentle, or will their prey drive be triggered. Your Lucky, love your dog, and your child, you have everything.

Day before yesterday I saw a bluebird here!!!! Earliest I've ever seen one around here. I think they are confused by these warm fronts, then cold fronts, then back to warm, etc. Even the fruit trees and flowering shrubs keep trying to bud out.
