We were invaded last year by them. A dish with a mixture of apple cider vinegar and water with a couple drops of dish soap gets them. They are attracted to the vinegar smell and the dish soap breaks the water tension so they drown when they land. It doesn't get them all immediately but our dish would need to be emptied daily when we first put it out.

I tried this and it worked pretty darn well. Got 95% of them, then the rain hit and it got all messed up. I put out 3 little dishes and it was filled by night time with little black devils. So much happier now!

Fabulous, me too. Have you read the Outlander book series by Diana Gabaldon? It's going to be made into a mini series on Starz, starts in Aug. Lengthy tomes, but so good I've read most of them multiple times :). Sorry, y'all, OT!

Sorry, I'm a dork! I just meant that I have a love for scottish things, esp kilty kinds, not that my father came from there :) Although, I'm adopted, so u never know!

I'm completely ashamed to admit that I've never read them! I've heard they are terrific, and I saw an ad for the upcoming series----and it reminded me (along with your post) that I really need to sit down and read them!! Have you ever read Lynn Kurland? She has some really good time travel books with lots of kilts in them. I've always thought that when you're drawn to something inherently like a type of music or plaid (lol) or art etc that maybe you have inherited preferences. Like when you see a picture in a book and are drawn to it or the ocean, etc. I might be silly, but just thought I'd throw it out there! :-D
 
Guess who just got 3 raspberry starts to go with her 2 blueberry bushes??? THIS GAL! And to top it off I have 3 blueberries turning purple, I am so excited I just couldn't help it. My strawberries will be showing up in the next week, now to get some wood put together to make a few more pots for the next 4 blueberry bushes I am ordering in the spring.

Raech - you have simply got to take some pix of your garden. Sounds like you've been working like a demon!
We were out strawberry picking today, freezing, canning etc.- raspberries tomorrow if the back holds up

. Excitement in our neighborhood today....14 bison crashed through the fencing about 2-3 miles away and are wandering around in our little valley! I guess they don't want to go home and become bison burgers............
