Homesteaders

I have about 100 chickens, 7 cats and 2 dogs. The only one of all them that likes being inside is the 13 year old rottweiler. He comes in and out as he pleases. The cats come in say hi and take off again. I figure if a tiny chipmunk can survive out there so can a 80lb dog or a 10lb cat. Just my opinion.

A nice warm meal before bed can help any pup endure a cold night. Even if it's just a little hot broth on their dry food. I have a buddy who mixes up a bunch of dry food broth and whatever he has to put in there that night. Then they all get a steaming hot dinner.

I know animals are not all the same....some horses like to be in the barn or run in when it's snowing, raining, windy, etc. and some don't. Some dogs will seek shelter in bad weather and some like to stay out in it. Same with chickens. Some deer will bed down in bad weather and some won't.

But they all have one thing in common...they have fur, down or feathers that are adequate for keeping them warm if a person allows them to develop that coat. If a horse is blanketed it may not develop a sufficient winter coat or if too old and skinny, not sufficient fat, if a pet stays inside or a chicken's coop is even mildly heated, it may not develop sufficient coat for withstanding the cold comfortably. All of these are variables, but the fact remains that they have fur or feathers on almost their entire body and we do not....common sense alone could get one to the place where they can see that animals are designed for outdoor living and we are not.

I don't think it's anything offensive or judgemental to safely say that animals~as a whole and I know there are exceptions for certain disabilities/mutations/illnesses, etc~belong outdoors. That doesn't dictate that everyone should keep them outdoors...that's your business, but they clearly belong out there. All their sensory capabilities, their instincts, their body design and diet all indicate a life lived out of the environment of a human's house.

I deleted a few recent posts. Please, lets not argue about how we keep our animals. We all have different environments, every dog and person is different and the requirements to keep the peace can vary greatly. So please, lets not judge other's situations.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation,

I can agree to disagree with all of that!

Not that I believe any of the claptrap about animals evolving into another species, but the much loved scientific opinions that many believe are starting to change their stories:

I guess scientists just can't agree on what they make up about how dogs got here.

"Claptrap" about animals evolving into another species? Holy cow just erase the last few hundred years of scientific endeavor... and do it with a citation to the Dailymail of all publications.
