Homework Project - Egg Laying Related

I actually started keeping track of the eggs we are getting per day, so i have that recorded from January 1st. I got a cute little calendar with a rooster on it, I had been talking to my mom about getting an egg calendar, then i saw it in Michaels and i said to her "MOM! I HAVE TO GET THIS! THIS IS PERFECT!!!!!"

I can get you the info by most likely tomorrow. Is that okay?

(Fri-Sat had 2 eggs total from four hens)

Friday:

Barred Rock: 1 egg
Silver Laced Wyandotte: 0 eggs
Marans: 0 eggs
White Leghorn: 0 eggs

Saturday:

Barred Rock: 1 egg
Silver Laced Wyandotte: 0 eggs
Marans: 0 eggs
White Leghorn: 0 eggs

Here is Ok or you can PM. Whatever is easier for you. You can also just provide the total per day, i.e. Jan.13 =1, Jan 14 =1. I recorded the number of layers so I just need what they laid. Also, you can do this weekly or monthly if that is better for you.
The numbers have been interesting so far.

This information will be skewed depending on the age of the chickens, it being winter. Pullets just starting to lay in fall will usually lay all winter regardless in most locations while the older ones will be more affected by sunlight. For instance, I have two pullets that only started laying in November who lay 5-6 eggs a week, while my older ones are hardly laying at all. Those same older ones laid 5-6 eggs a week last winter when they had first started to lay.

That may be true but it is not a factor for this stage of the project.
This project is taking data from random samples, analyzing it and using the most powerful statistical test I can find to support or refute my hypothesis.

And from the notes people have sent, it is kind of a fun thing to do.

I can help as well too It's been two weeks I have been tracking who laid what. My light is on from 6:45 am - 6:45 pm. Out of the ones that are old enough to lay, I am averaging 4 eggs a week from my buff orpington, the same for one of my barred rocks. The other barred rock is averaging 5 eggs a week. My Production red and mutt is at 6-7 a week.

I'll put it in a spreadsheet and send it to you as well. It would be better if I had more time to determine the averages. I have only just started keeping track.

I don't light for egg production. I have a coop without windows, and I light until they find their way in and get comfortable. It only adds a good hour on to their day right now.

I also think that my bulb I use is not strong enough to stimulate egg production, as I did have them on it for over 14 hours in October. They were not effected at all.

That's okay, when the daylight is longer, I will shut if off anyway and share my results

My hens go to bed before 8 even in the summer when it doesn't get dark until 9:30 - 10 pm.
