Homicidal Drakes! PLEASE HELP!*UPDATE*

I have found no where to rehome them. The only option is to... but I can't. Its too much work. I have one drake who is friendly, as I gave him special attention and held him everyday when he had angel wing. The two bullies I just want to let them out of the coop and not deal with them! They are drivign me crazy.

then either keep trying or deal with them, killing somthing just because it doesn't behave the way YOU want it to, it not an answer. if you run from them, then they just believe that you are a more timid "drake", next time try grabbing one by his neck, not BY his neck, but the feathers, give him a good GENTAL but firm shaking, as if you were a dominate drake, wait until he completely surrenders, then let go, if he chases you, chase him back, grab his neck feathers, and sahke him, do this until HE realizes that he's not in charge, interrupt his breeding by pushing him off the hens if you can. those are the sorts of things ducks do.

my african gander has gotten too big for his neck lately now that it's spring, he's gone after me, would I kill him if he got ahold of me, no I'd like to, but I'd just give him a good thrashing.

LOL!! That's funny. Man they want a piece of you. Ok here is what I think. This is your fault. The initial act of aggresion they showed and you took off running. They know they own you instead of you owning them. They are just like kids that have not been given proper discipline. You've already seen the answer to your problem shown by your chickens. I used to have an aggressive hen. She'd come up and peck me. So I reached down with mt thumb and fore finger and grabbed the feathers on the back of her head (like a rooster would do) and lowered her head to the ground. She immeadiatly submitted. A couple times of that and the behaviour stopped.

Dominate them. They are animals of instinct. If that for some reason don't work go to wal mart in the fishing section and buy them some fishing worms. Hols them out to them and see if they are interested. Or buy some minnows and toss them on the ground next to them. Turn their agrresive behaviour into begging.

Remember. You own them. They don't own you.

Thank you! It is shocking because when they were just 2 days old they followed me around the yard and when I sat down would jump on my lap. They also liked it when I fed them blueberries off my finger. Atleast I have one good drake. And if these suggestions don't work, I found a tasty recipe for duck stew in holderreads (sp) raising ducks book.

This is the recipe I found if they can't be corrected.
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 tbsp. butter
1-2 cups of duck meat, chunks
3 medium sized potatoes
1 large onion, wedged
1-2 quarts beef stock, add desired herbs
1-2 Celery stalks

I say invite them for dinner, duck is very tastee. All my ducks except for one run from me. Daffy was the first, she was part of a pair I got last year and one was killed. She bites but it must be love bites because it only tickles NEVER hurts. When picked up she bites at my neck and they are small little pecks that are more like scratching than biting.

I now have 6; 4 Pekin females, 1 mallard/Pekin drake and 1 Pekin Drake. The mallard/Pekin drake may get invited in for dinner if my DW will let me. unless I can find him a home. I don't want him breeding with the Pekins.
