Honey Bees in house... THEY'RE BACK!! See #61

Well, they're BACK!!!! Swarming outside the same opening they used before and getting in the upstairs window by the 10's at a time. I'm going to catch one today and see if I can id the exact type that they are. So.... bee experts... which kinds migrate and come back in the spring???? I'll try to post a pic if I can get one.

Honey bees don't migrate ~ however the scent of the old honey and wax may have attracted a new swarm of honeybees. The only way to keep them out is to seal up every tiny little hole where they could get in.

I would love to see pictures. The honeybees may be a mix of several breeds if they are feral bees and not from an apiary which raised a specific breed, such as Italian, Russian, Carniolan or Cordovan.

Yup... that's what the fellow at the SW Michigan Bee Keepers Association told me. Likely a swarm that originated from this original hive before it grew too large. He informed me that while it is too late in the year to move them into something else, that possibly if they survive the winter, we can move them next year. So we shall see. If I can just get it closed off so that they cannot get into the upstairs area through the attic doors... then they can just stay there. There's a new group in Kzoo which is not very far from me.... so hopefully I can attend some meetings and find the best solution for both out house and the bees

I really wish I could find a way to make a viewable hive for them so we could watch them work

Maybe I can close off the sides of the attic and add a plexiglass door... LMAO

Honeybees in the house is no fun.. I can tell you. !!

We used to have area swarms try to get in our old farm house but luckily they just scouted out the place but didnt stay.

Now that I have alot of hives of my own... we havent had any try to get int he house....go figgure !

Still around LOL But no high speed anymore... no cable, no land line.... only internet through the cell phone

So I don't make it online much

The house is pretty much at a stand still since we moved in

So little time with the day to day stuff that there is little time anymore for improvements. Mostly though it's just some painting upstairs and the downstairs bath that needs to be done. Though... as with all older unkept houses...... it seems that every time we turn around there is something new to add to the list. And now BEES!

I did however finally manage to get my couches recovered..... I'll have to try and get some pics up of the finished rooms

(Though I still have some pics to hang, etc.)
