Honey

They sell honey with the comb in it?

indeed they do!
you can get jars of honey with a section of comb inside.
you can also get little boxes that are just the comb with honey in it - in fact they make a special frame for putting in the bee hive so the bees make the comb right in the box for you - once they fill the box with comb and honey and cap it off, you pull the frame, pop the boxes out, put a lid and label on them and take them to market!

I was never successful at getting the bees to put the honey in those little 'boxes'. Every time I put on a couple of 'comb honey supers', the bees would start making preparations to swarm???? I finally gave up trying to produce cmb honey.

I have some, I haven't tried to use them yet. it'll be interesting to see if I have the same results as you...

I don't eat honey, and know nothing about bee keeping...but I've always been able to go up to the hives and get the honey without being stung.

In fact, I think I've only been stung by a bee 5 times in my entire life.

Try a fruit stand for comb honey.

just thinking about this...
did you do anything extra like air the boxes out, pre-dress them with honey or wax? I imagine if there's anything outgassing out of the plastic they don't like those things would help...

Trust me when I tell you that it was a LONG time ago - before plastic boxes were created I think. The little boxes that I used were wooden, and I am pretty certain that they contained foundation wax. The bees just did not want to work those boxes readily. I produced some comb honey, but I was constantly removing queen cells.

Oh, twinkies.
I also heard that you can bury a twinkie in the ground, ome back 100 years later, and it'd still be the same.
