Amber sighed. “Do you not trust me? Remember, it was my idea that there were cubs in the first place. They’re just as much my responsibility as yours. And you have to be strong to take care of the cubs. To help others, you first need to take care of yourself. Come on. Go eat, get some water. I’ll take good care of them.” Amber said firmly “You’re endangering the cubs if you don't.”
Orchid snarled but agreed and made her way out of the den, snarling and growling under her breath the whole time. She wanted to trust her friend but she didn't quite. Once out of site she ran as fast as she could to the river and drank deeply, she then caught a couple fish and ate two and took the rest back to the den for the cubs.
Orchid came back to the den with a mouthful of large fish and was relieved to see that Amber was only laying with them. She set the fish down and nuzzled the cubs, waking them and showing them the food. Yin was a little on the thin side and dove in, but Yang, who wasn't looking too thin picked at a couple fish. Orchid smiled as she watched them feast.
Amber smiled. ”See? They’re fine.”
"You never know," Orchid sighed, "Some coyotes are cunning and will pretend everything is all right until the perfect moment," she added with a distant look, thinking of her mother and father.
Sunala attempted to stay standing and grimaced, “I don’t know, it really hurts though,”
”Hmm.” Amber said, not looking up for fear Orchid would see the guilt in her eyes
