HOOSIERS Only - INDIANA - Ru1?

Quote:
There's one on 46 between Ellettsville & Bloomington.

I think those minimum requirements must vary by store, as I don't think I recalling seeing a min. set that high at the ones around here.

Those of you in the Bloomington/Ellettsville area, be aware TSC gets their chicks in the February 28th and Orscheln will be getting them any day now! Ack! I am in so much trouble

**Side note: Anyone else in the Unionville area? Thats where I am and I am interested in knowing what internet provider you use?? I am so close to town, yet get no options on internet!!

Tiff812- There is an Orschlien in Mitchell too. Not sure if that is closer to you or not. No min amount of chicks to buy. Last year, they had a better selection than TSC. I also liked the way they kept them too.

Thank you so much everyone! I will def check Orscheln out and if I don't have much luck I will chicken stalk at Rural King

Our Rural King got chicks in today! SOOOOO Cute, I can't wait until we are ready for ours:)

Southwestern Indiana here....just north of Evansville. I am new "again" in the chicken world. I have had chickens in the past, but only a few in a chicken tractor and I didn't have a tremendous amount of success. I learned a lot last time and I am ready to take the plunge into a slightly larger operation!

I ordered 30 chicks from purelypoultry.com and I am trying to get things ready to go! The more I read, the more I wish I would have sought out some breeders and tried to find the breeds I like from them...but alas...I jumped too quick! I think hatchery chicks will work just fine for me to start with though.

I ordered five each of the following breeds: Dominique, Delaware, Speckled Sussex, Mottled Java, Buff Orpington and Buckeye. I am interested in the rare dual-purpose birds mostly, but I want hens that lay a respectable number of large eggs. I did elect to buy some buff orpingtons because I had them in the past and liked them. I am not a big fan of the bantams...at least as of now

I have plenty of other hobbies...so it's not like I need another...but I have been wanting to do this for years and decided to pull the trigger!

Looking forward to talking with you all about chickens in the future!

Michael

I spent an hour talking to Bob Rennolet in SD last night. I am going to purchase LF Partridge Brahmas from him as soon as they lay well enough for him to hatch out chicks. I was wondering if anyone would be willing to go in on a shipment with me. His min for shipping chicks is 25 but I don't need that many.

From what I can remember last night he breeds LF and bantam;
Amauracanas (sp?)
Black Brahmas
Partridge Brahmas
Chanteclers (sp?)
Jersey Giants in splash coloring
A naked neck breed
I think he has some Buff Cornish also

I am selling my two bantam duckie boys. One call and one mandarin. They are about 8 mo. old. Got them from Jim Konecny of Royal Oaks Fowl. They are pictured on my BYC page. $50 Their names are Lewis and Clark and they are buddies. Mandarins don't quack but have the cutest little "tweeeeet"

Hello fellow Hoosiers!! I'm not only new to this forum but I am also new to Indiana as well. I moved here to marry the most understanding loving man in the world. We live on a 60 acre farm south of Greensburg, Indiana. Our address is actually Butlerville. Not very far from Westport, Osgood and Millhousen. Anyway, I have gotten addicted to anything with feathers. My husband is afraid i'm going to switch his Cream of Wheat with layer feed with a little milk added, lol. I am getting the hatching fever already. I have 60 assorted breeds of bantam eggs in my incubators now already. I work at the TSC store in Greensburg and we have a 6 chick minimum when you purchase in store but if you special order it is a 25 chick minimum. We will also have ducklings and Broad breasted white and Bronze turkey poults. They will arrive on the 28th of this month. I am really looking forward to them showing up. My husband on the other hand is dreading it, lol. I am looking forward reading the posts on this forum. It's nice to meet everyone here.
