Do you use the heat admitter in they medal lamp thing that heat lamp bulbs go in?

Yeah, with a ceramic socket. I ordered it from Amazon in Reptile Supplies. I like it because there is no light at night but still heat. It does get very hot and would burn you or a duck on contact. I have a wire cover on tub that would keep it from ending up in the brooder if it fell. I had a 75 watt heat lamp bulb(red) that exploded one night with my chicks. Luckily at that point in their brooding it was up and away Far enough that though glass flew everywhere, none went in their brooder. I am super paranoid of those bulbs now even though I still have two.
