Hello!... We are free ranging our new flock and hoping we have a Rooster. Henrietta here is from TSC straight run. We have many predators so for safety and order in the flock we are hoping we have a Roo. I looked for pointy feathers etc but just can not tell. Henrietta imo is our best hope. Any help appreciated. Thank You!

Thank you for the reply. Out of the 11 we added to our flock the only hope left for a home raised Roo are two RIR's we picked up two weeks after our initial chick pick up. I've never given them a look over as I was banking on Henrietta being Henry and they just went to bed 30 minutes ago. I will have to wait until the morning to take a look. I like to greet them every morning as they walk down their ramp. Defeats the purpose of the Ador but it's worth it. Seems l may have to take your advice and start searching for a male on cl. 🐓

Purchasing 6 straight run chicks the odds are in my favor! After taking a closer look at this RIR I have to ask about the potential of this chick. It had a banner day today pulling a hat trick by catching a lizard, small snake and a salamander. The odd thing is no one chased after the food that was caught. The flock left the meal to the finder on all three occasions. How about that funky tail feather... It's been there for a few days? Thanks for taking a look.

you in ohio? I have a few extra roos.

The RIR is definitely a pullet. :hmm
Might as well post the rest of the straight runs. None have the look this novice thinks would be a sign of a male.

They all look like pullets. For most people, that would be great news, but sad for you since you were hoping for a roo. You could try posting on your state thread to see if anyone has an extra cockerel, or look in the Buy, Sell, Trade forums.

Thanks to all who took the time to answer my questions. We will start searching for the 12 member of the flock.
