Hoping I'm worried to soon

Almost all hens will take a rest between laying intervals. It's normal. I've also noticed that the more regular and prolific the layer, the more rest intervals they require. There are a finite number of eggs in a hens arsenal, and how she dispenses them is highly individual.

Blooie, I love the Pez dispenser analogy!

As for thier free range time I've walked the yard there isn't anywhere for any of them to hide eggs.
I didn't think they could be laying where one of them had chosen. Right in under a plumbago and a (prickly) rose. Maybe she felt they were safe from predators in there. They were certainly safe from me, I had to clip away foliage to get to her little stash.

No really there isn't any where for any of them to hide eggs. I have not bushes, brush or trees in my back yard except the bamboo that is in thier run. And almost everything else gets moved constantly. I mean my back yard isn't clean and landscaped beautifully. It's just sort of bare. Swing set shed garden. I almost wish I had plants the girls could possibly hide eggs in but I need a watering system before I can even extend my garden and that's one upgrade thats closer to the bottom of my list

Good news. It's been almost 2 weeks and she finally laid an egg today. Thank you for all your help. Next time I'll know to give them 2-3 weeks before I worry add long as there are no other issues

reading this and am a bit relieved myself. I have the same dilema at the moment. 3 of my 5 new chooks have been laying and we;ve been getting 2-3 a day until 4 days ago when I got 1 and then nothing since. They all seem happy and healthy so I will stop worrying for now and wait and see. Might have to buy some store bought eggs though to get me through the drought.

I'm glad my concern could bring someone relief. She has been laying all week now and has upped her production to 3 in a row when before it was only every other day. So I'm thinking it's almost like a test cycle before they kick into regular laying production
