My three week olds are getting frisky. They are flying on top of the brooder guard and then onto the garage floor. My wife called earlier to report that the garage is like "chicks gone wild!"

I was thinking of taking an old screen door and putting the mesh on top to prevent fly aways. Does that make sense?

Thew new coop isn't here yet, but when it arrives my wife thinks that none of the chicks should go in until they are all aready to be placed outside to prevent territorial activities.

I have a cover on mine, its a good idea. Are your chicks different ages? You can put them all out together if it is warm and safe enough

I have the 3 week olds and then hopefully I'll have some new babies this week. I'm going to divide up the brooder into two halves so that the newbies won't be hazed by the older chicks. Once they are older I'll bring them all together. My light brahma seems to be the bossy one, the Goldedn Laced Wyandotte and the Barred Rock are both very easy going.
