Horrible storm last night - poor little bird

I feel sorry for anyone who experiences extreme weather situations irregardless of where they live! The two feet of snow we got here in VA may have been peanuts to someone who lives in a more northern state, but it crippled things for a couple of days here simply because it was too much too quickly. I think Mother Nature needs to be reminded that all things are great in moderation!

gritsar - you really have a storm cellar? wow - have you ever had to use it?

Yeah, it was used for many years by my DH's family. After he lost his father 12 years ago and both his mom and his only brother in 2005, things were let go. I don't think we've even opened the door to the cellar in a couple of years. We really do need to clean it out for emergencies. Maybe this summer.
Last spring we went to a town about 30 minutes to the north of us. When we got home and got out of the car I heard the strangest noises coming from the south and the north. It was two tornados hitting simultaneously. The one to the north nearly destroyed a beautiful little town and they are still struggling to recover. The one to the south only took out a trailer park. No one died in the south one. Several people died in the one to the north.

Arkansas weather can be scary at times.

Wow - i had no idea that the weather was like that in Arkansas - I have never been there and am really not that well traveled anyway. That storm cellar sounds like a wonderful thing to have - clean it up and stock it with water, batteries, flashlights, non-perishable food (don't forget dog food

) - a real safe haven in light of horrible storms and double tornados.....whew.........stay safe lady!

When I was 8 I still remember visiting my Aunt in Arkansas and watching a spectacular lightening storm from under her carport.
Tornadoes - yuck - so unpredictable.

Clean out that storm cellar and stock with the provision mentioned but add cat food for Kiki, lots of cat food...

Wow! I never knew about weather like that down there... sounds like it can get pretty crazy.

Yeah, that was pretty violent at times! I put all my chickens inside the split coop and closed their pop doors, and I brought the serama's in to sleep in a rubbermaid inside the shop. Everyone is back out today and happy, but it's windy!! I can't stand February and March with all the wind it brings.

Well I don't think the little confused bird made it through last night's storms. I just let Jax out for his afternoon romp and the firs thing he did was find a little bird's body. Think it was the same one.

It's turned cold this afternoon. Wonder what tonight will bring.

I was up in the top of the barn last night while it was raining & lightening, listening to the radio and enjoying the sound of the rain on the tin roof. National Weather Services came on and gave the news about our area, then said tornado warnings across Arkansas. I thought about you, Grits.

We had thunder and lightning during the ice storm Wednesday...

Crazy weather I tell ya! Glad you're ok, Grits
