They are BEAUTIFUL!Hi kids! I'm here too. This is a nice break from chores. Mahalo Butterscotch. Looking good- there are some real beauties posted.
I'm Leslie, I had a 12yo Welsh Paint when I was young and we were inseparable (till dad sold) . Married me a man with 3 Arabian horses a decade ago. We rode a bit (western pleasure) together. His horses were in good shape but in their high 20's and within 7 years we lost them all. 1 mysteriously, another got tripped up in wire, the last foundered- RIP Kula, honey-girl and Kapakahi.
A few years back we purchased "his and her" horses. I picked out a just-made-3yo-handful, named Hombre View attachment 1651740 (<-day we picked up hombre) and my husband purchased a 3yo beauty named Cisco View attachment 1651745 (<-choosing Cisco). Hombre is now 5+ and Cisco is 4. Certainly not turn key like almost every ride I have been on through the years. I have to keep a good eye and tight rein on my young thing but getting better! Lots of ground work, round pen, arena, light beach and trail. With the big assist of an awesome trainer it has been very enjoyable and we are getting to where we want to be.View attachment 1651756View attachment 1651762

and my DH wanted him.
he was 2. But two months after the surgery (rescinded testicle) he started to get soft poops. We contacted the vet- to make that part of this story shorter, we tried everything... EVERYTHING!!!, several times over for months and he only got worse- His diarrhea became liquid and he slowed his eating and drinking to almost nothing, he started losing weight and would even lay down during our small walks!!
We all were sure we were going to lose him, and we were sure it was NOT colic, so we made arrangements with the gal who we purchased him from to take him back (no $$$ back, but save his life) to her 300 acre ranch where he could possibly run it out and if not could live his little life out happy.
My feeling was he needed to be left alone by human interference at this point. So the arrangements were made. A week before he was to leave, he started eating and drinking a bit better and having some firmer poop. He quickly gained his appetite, got fiesty on our walks... almost back to normal!!Makes my eyes kinda well up@TropicalBabies what a powerful story
in happiness and sadness. We/I tried so hard to help that little guy. Just was not meant to be. He is a little angel and we miss him a lot. I should have mentioned that he and my DH picked each other. Ko'olau and DH walked straight up to each other the first day and stayed together for hours before we brought him home. All other horse ignoring the heck out of them both.
