Hi everyone. I've loved horses all my life. I dream of owning a buckskin mustang one day.

I have a question for those who do already own horses, I have a question. Are males or females better tempered for new riders?

Buckskin mustang... dreamy . I have a friend who has and he is handsome! Though a bit jumpy.
I find mares moody but sure it all depends on the horse and the person. I gravitate towards geldings myself, have more than a few friends who attract to mares for one reason or another.

For a beginner a gelding would probably be better. But it depends on how trained the horse is! I own a mare and she is awesome!
I ride her almost everyday!

I think geldings are better tempered. Mares can be, snappy, and rude.

I rode a mare once, she was sweetest thing whenever I sat the trot, and evil the second I posted. (No clue why, she was perfectly healthy, tack was fitted perfect- just how she was.) She was even nice when cantering and jumping.

Yup. I had a mare for about two Years. She was so sweet but then she started to go a bit wild when she was only being ridden once a week. I tried to catch her with a lead rope she spun and kicked me in The shins. OUCH! Let’s just say I kinda sunk to the ground screaming. My gelding Hudson at the moment is a bit spooky. You wouldn’t give him to a beginner. But it all depends on the horse and how they’ve been treated like Hudson’s been treated badly in the past To cause him to get all spooky.

Freckle is a mare!!! She is good tempered sweet and rides great!!!!
