Thank you :). Thankfully I'm still in touch with the woman who taugh me most of what I know about riding, so she may be able to help. I really hope I can get a horse one day. Even if it's not a buckskin mustang  (my second pick is a gypsy vanner, which is probably one of the most expensive horses ever )
Well, you cant help having good taste...:D I'm rooting for you. Keep hanging out at the stables, cuz you know what they say...? Hang out at the barber shop long enough your going to get a hair cut! And you never know, you know. Someone may need somebody kind and reliable to exercise their horse for them. May even pay you for it. Wouldn't that be wonderful! It could happen and it is a great start!!!:thumbsup

Hello all! I think ivr posted here before but I guess I can again.

I've been riding 3 years, this year is my 4th. I take lessons once a week which isnt a lot but it is expensive and time consuming for a graduating high schooler lol.

Just wanted to share pics of my favorite lesson horses. :) (also for someone else who may have not seen them)

this is Missy, a mare I've been riding a lot lately. Shes blind in one eye which makes her spooky but shes such a sweet heart.

This is Sky, who I learned to ride on. He'll always be my favorite boy.

And this is Vinny, who isnt a lesson horse but I still get the privilage to ride him, since he really isnt being used so his owner gave the ok for me to ride him.
I like to say he loves me but I know he probably doesnt care.

@TropicalBabies I havent responded on this thread but I have been reading your posts! It's great that you're helping those horses, it also looks so pretty there!

Graduating!!! Congratulations!!!! That is big!!! Huge!!! Last year of HS... :weeYippee!!!
Love your ponies :love looks like great facilities, love the arena, and I love that someone asked you to ride for them. Pretty cool. I'm a sucker for Bays... just something about them <3 such sweet animals. Do you help out at the stables too? Not sure what part of country you are in but looks pretty. And I do think I saw a post from you back?? and lets keep thread alive!!
It is really pretty in some spots on this island. Breathtaking actually but my photos have not captured yet. I wish I shared adventures better. Sometimes I am out doing the craziest or funnest stuff thinking... I think BYC horse peeps would get a kick out of this! This is wild! I'll keep posting Maka and his clans journey. Our trainer has great facilities and knowledge and they will get the treatment (vet, farrier, spa), trained and then found a home. I could not have done better. We contribute all we can with help and finances. I am hoping and thinking I will be able to get the Bays (and Maka's) foal. Exciting!!!
Got to ask you... whats next? What are your plans after graduating?

Thank you!

It is such a nice facility. It's not a show barn (though they do do shows) so it has a nice homey feel. I couldn't ask for a better place to ride, though the only downside maybe is that we don't have any trails around the barn that we can go on. (though that's such a little complaint -- ha!)

I don't help around the barn, though I've been thinking before about working for an extra lesson maybe on a Saturday or something with Vinny, I just don't know if that'd be allowed. I am so happy though that I'm allowed to ride him. It actually started out that one evening it ended up that there weren't enough (fresh) lesson horses to use, so since I had ridden Vinny once before (during their winter camp in the same situation) I got to ride him. Then I guess the owner talked with my trainer and said I could ride him on Thursdays, so here we are! He's a very well trained horse but can be a bit of a brat.

Oh, I'm in Florida, I've always thought it wasn't as pretty as other states or countries, but I guess it has its own beauty lol. I can't wait to hear more about Maka and the other horses! Your trainer sounds awesome to be helping them. I hope you'll be able to get the bays! They are such beautiful creatures. I remember when I was first introduced to Sky, I was disappointed he wasn't a pinto horse, because I used to like that color best. Now I think he's one of the prettiest horses at the barn!

As for my plans after graduating, I'm going to a community college and then on to real college! I think I'm going to start in the fall. I'm actually homeschooled so I'll probably get done this summer.

Yes, lets keep this thread alive! Sorry this got long

You write very well so 'bravo!' to mom and dad. I think a CC is great/smart to start and to figure out where you want to go and what you want to do. I'm very impressed!
All the horse owners I know don't let just anybody ride their horses... even if horse needs to be ridden bad. So, I think it is a pretty big compliment.
I've never been to Florida... don't know that I will ever go, the climate is so similar to ours and the flight so long. I do think you may have more heat and bugs than us... and snakes and alligators!!! Yikes!! lol. But plenty people like it there. Are you near the ocean? Well, you can't be that far away. I used to be a serious water person but now it is all about horses and chickens.

I have a western saddle/cinch question for anybody who wants to put their 5 cents in. First, does anybody use a felt cinch? If so, why and how do you like it? If not, same but opposite question.
I am using a fleece cinch now, all worked just fine until I purchased a med wool saddle blanket to go under my felt pad. I used to use a thin acrylic that worked perfectly fine under my flex T -I'd rather wash a blanket than clean a pad- but now I notice my saddle slips about 1-2 inches back. I'm sure it is because of the super cute new M blanket. My Q is; Will a felt cinch hold the saddle a little better for me or do I have to loose the new blanket to be happy? I did order a felt cinch a few days ago as I can use another one on my other saddle (and it was $20 vs more$$). But, I figured one of you folks may know the answer to my question from experience.
Next saddle question, what are your tricks when you have a saddle that you are afraid may be pinching? My horse is high withered and I recently picked up a beautiful, used hard/slick seat saddle from ebay. My other saddle is a flex and fits him perfect but is so soft and he is so young I thought I should get a more serious saddle for the long haul and the health of his back. I have used it very little so not sure what it is going to do long haul, only guessing it may be tight because it looks tight. I do have a fleece pad and picked up a fleece wither protector. That is a lot of padding... Tips anyone?

New here to BYC and found horse peeps too! Name is Tammy and that's my Appy Washtay and I on our 4th of July ride
late writing... welcome again! Was there a parade involved Washtay is looking at something interesting... :) anywho, nice butt!!!! IMG_20181031_090856178_HDR.jpg
