Monday here
Ooops. Well, happy Monday @Butterscotchbitesfinger . I hope it is a good one. Are you back in school now- homeschool right? How is your winter treating you all? How is the ever so handsome Hudson, you guys been out and about?
We are hot and dry but did have a few rains, enough to keep the grass for awhile longer. This week is a scorcher though, i'm sure what is still green will be brown by tomorrow. I have not lost any chickens yet but my Sour Sop tree looks like it is a goner. So bummed, was excited about that one. Think I will hide inside for the next few months only emerging to take care of monsters morning and eve. Ugh! :tongue

Yeah back at school, terrible WINTER SUCKS! Yeah we have been back at riding club.

Hello all.
I currently don't have a horse but grew up around them on my uncle's ranch. I have been riding his horses for as long as I can remember but I haven't been out there for a couple years now and so haven't ridden in a while. I enjoy reading through and seeing everyone horses!
Hello welcome to Horse Club! That’s so cool that ur uncle owns a horse farm I wish mine did haha

Hi! I don’t keep horses since I can’t ride them anymore but I do have a mini donkey. His name in DonQ, and he is the sweetest thing. Here are some pictures. I have an important question regarding him which I am wondering if this is the right place for the question. I will ask anyway and just let me if it’s ok.

Along with DonQ I also have Nigerian dwarf goats. Four, They all get along well but when it’s time to eat I am having problems. Because DonQ wants to eat the goats feed and the goats prefer to eat DonQ’s food.

My concern is that the goats food is not only medicated but also has copper. As I understand copper is not good for donkeys!

I know I could try to feed them separate, but the barn is not finished and I don’t have the different stables for them to eat at. That’s in the future.

If it’s true that the goats feed is not good for DonQ, because of the copper, is there an universal feed that I can buy that will work for all farm animals housed in the same area?

I am already trying very hard to stop them from eating each other’s food, but they are giving me the “evil eye”, (they get annoyed with me,) every time I do that.

How big are the goats compared to the donkey? If they are quite a bit smaller, you could build a "creep feeder" - just put up a board across a corner of your pasture that is low enough for the goats to walk under but too low for the donkey, and put the goats' food in that area. You could also get DonQ one of those feeders that hooks over a fence rail, and put it up too high for the goats to get it.

I started to think of this thread the other day. I haven't talked to or seen some of you equestrians in a while! How has everyone and their horses been? :)

Everyone is doing great over at my barn I ride at. My trainer was very nice in letting my sister and I ride an extra day of the week, since we've been there so long and the horse my sister often rides needs the extra work since he is never ridden. I also offered to do chores in return since I get the chance to ride an extra day or so. :)

So last night I enjoyed a nice little ride with Sky, one of the horses I usually ride. Did some walk and trot exercises and two small canters but I didn't want to do anything too 'crazy' because he threw a shoe aha. On Thursday I had my actual lesson and I rode Vinny, who was VERY unhappy about getting ridden. :gig

I’m training Hudson for the up and coming dressage comp. I really want to do well at it. I think he will because believe it or not he has come so far since the virus started, I have had more time to ride since online learning stopped. And I have really worked hard on my grades as well.
We are about to get the materials to build the stables and the arena is coming along too.
