Go to the feed store and get the stinky traps they sell for horses. Usually it's a plastic jug you mix water and the bait into. Hang them around the edge of the yard and by areas of the house you're not always near (they smell like rotting meat).

Replace the water level as it evaporates, replace the bait once a month or so. Empty them when you replace the bait.

We used these around the aviary and they work great!

We used these around the aviary and they work great!

They use a lot of them at the barn where we stable our pony, and I figured if it works there, it'll work at home. We also use the fly repellent they spray on the horses around our back door, since the dang pigs open it and leave it open all day and I can't be runing up and down the stairs to be their doorman. Not 100% foolproof, but maybe 80-90%. I'll take it over the dang flies.
