Horse Grain for Growing Fodder??

I was just wondering if anyone has ever tried this before... I’m having a lot of trouble getting seed and grain feed is available to me as of right now.

You could try it what kind of grain?

Look closely at those grains: Are the kernels intact or are a lot of the larger seeds crushed?
Crushed seeds will not germinate, but their organic matter will start to decay and cause mold-grow. Sometimes i find broken kernels of corn in my winter-wheat and remove those carefully. One undetected corn ruined a whole bin of fodder once.
If the seeds look intact, just give it a try and please tell us how it worked out. Horse grain is one of the cheapest food available here and the ability to turn that into something my ducks could chew on could save me a ton of money!

How did it work out? I'm trying to figure out where to buy 50# bags of any kind of fodder seed.

Wildbird seed sprouts quickly..I just cut out from under my Birds feeder and toss to the chickens.
