I am moving my horse to a boarding barn because I have no one to ride with here. My horse and mule have lived in the back yard for 3 years. I can't afford to board the mule. Does anyone have thoughts or opinions on this? My DH is giving me the guilts, but the board is steep, and I can't board both. And I really want to ride with others.

Why not put an ad up on craigslist to meet people at a gathering place (McD's, Tractor Supply), somewhere where other people will be around if necessary. If someone should reply, see if they would like to join a "riding" club or something like that that meets up every so often to ride and shoot the breeze.

I'm siding with your DH on this one, if they've been together for 3yrs and you take 1 away the other is going to be very sad/lost without the other!

Idk I suppose I tend to be less sensitive to that kind of thing...but IMO if they are going to be separated eventually why wait? I dont think waiting longer will make it any easier on either of them and your horse will probably really enjoy the added time with you enjoying riding.

The mule most likely won't be alone if she waits until she's sold.
