Hey everyone! I've seen this thread several times, but never posted anything. Well, when I had the time today and saw this, I thought I'd post. So, I've been riding for about 8 years and it seems to be an obsession of mine. I don't have a horse of my own, but at the place where I ride, the horse that I ride, barely anyone ever rides her besides me and I've, with the help of my instructor telling me what to do, been training the horse. Well let me rephrase that, she's already trained to ride, but I'm trying her for dressage. Her name is Libby and she is the sweetest thing ever! I kinda already said but we are currently working on dressage and it's so much fun. Very tiring and lots of hard work, but fun! Here's some pics of her:

Oh, and she's a Quarter Horse btw. :)

June has never bucked... Yet. I think its bound to happen sometime though. I'm hesitant about riding her out in the big pasture becuase when she gets excited she'll gallop and buck, and the big pasture makes her excited, and I'm afraid she'll take off galloping and bucking while I'm on her. The bucking I may be able to handle, as long as it's not like rodeo bronc bucking, and even if I fall off, I've fell many a times before so what's one more, plus June is small. It's the galloping that terrifies me. I've only done a few short spurts of cantering in the round pen, and my balance isn't that great yet, I guarantee I'd fall if she started going top speed, and I don't wanna fall while she's going that fast unless I have a helmet, which I don't. This is why I want a third older horse, to build my confidence and practice my riding so I'm not afraid to ride June out.
Anyways, I wouldn't deal with those people with the black horse, if they can't get straight what they want, then what they've told you about the horse probably isn't honest either.
And you're 14?! You seem quite a bit older than that. Lol. I was definitely not mature enough to look for a horse and deal with people like that when I was 14, so go you.

Shes cute! And sounds like a challenge, I don't know a thing about dressage but it looks hard, just because everything seems so perfect and calculated.

Thanks! Yeah, it can be hard. We aren't in to any of the super complicated things they do in like the Olympics yet, I don't think I can do any for that stuff. Lol! Mostly we just work on perfect circles, bending, changing gaits right on the spot, stopping and turning with leg pressure, etc. :)

. . . . And I can just about guarantee that, if they do find a horse that has never, ever bucked in its entire life, that 14-year-old will find a way to make it buck before the year is out.;)

Kind of what I thought and I'm 14

I mean even the best horse I've ever ridden had bucked! She bucked cause there was like 10 horseflies on her, my horse has bucked about 4 times, and how is your kid going to learn anything if they never own a challenging horse

Even the most trustworthy of horses will give you a go sometimes. My girl is great with little kids, but I get on her and she'll take it to the next level.

Welcome to the horse thread!

@Abigalerose I found an etsy shop that I am thinking of going through. I'm using my nylon halter to compar measurments though, so where shoudl I measure from? Do the buckles count in the measurement or just the actual straps? I'm new to buying rope halters

Shows how much I know, I didn't realize there was dressage in the Olympics

And to add on that, I actually didn't know there was any horse stuff at the olympics

That's ok. :) They don't advertise it much.

Yeah I am 14

It is probably cause I grew up around a bunch of cowboys. I bought my first horse that I did not have to share when I was 9.

So far I am down to the dappled grey and paint. Both cheap.
I may have found someone who will pay at least 850 for the bay mare I am selling, they are looking for exposed and bred brood mares with cutting and reining blood lines, the only problem is that she is not exposed or bred.

I walked Sneaks out to the pasture today, as I started to ride back I saw a tire rim

I rode over the bridge for the first and most likely last time since the county is putting a metal box culvert in.

I wish I grew up around Cowboys! I have one cousin, who I rarely see or talk to that's really into horses, and then I have my grandpa, he likes horses and has always let me have them at his house, but he's not super into them and always doing stuff with them. I got my first horse when I was 5, I believe, and I've had horses ever since, although the first 3 I had I didn't pay for myself, and the 4th one I traded one of the first three on. And then last year I finally saved up, sold the two horses I had (only got 450 on them combined) and then I bought a beautiful wonderful $2500 gelding buuuut aside from just not clicking with him he also could tell I didn't know how to ride so he knew he could get away with not listening. But no one ever thought I was serious about horses until I got June since I've had so much trouble with the ones I've had in the past, but I just didn't know what I was doing. If I grew up around Cowboys I'd probably be a great rider by now, sometimes it's discouraging

And all the not being able to find the right horse and not knowing how to do stuff with them in the past is what makes it so hard to talk my grandpa into letting me get another horse now. But he is realizing I'm a lot more serious now. I just wish I could get over the nervousness I still have.
And sneaks is so cute! Kinda looks like he's got highlights in his mane, I like it.
How tall are they horses you're looking at? And their bloodlines (if they're registered)? And whatever other info you have on them.
Btw you have a really pretty place to ride!
