Horse's frog -- should it be this way?

I think you need to talk to a farrier right quick.

i think her feet look fine. maybe needs a bit of heel taken but other than looks good to me. you could call a farrier and see what they think. but i bet they say its ok :)

Her feet look fine.
But with all that mud you might want to think about trimming some of that feathering (the long hair around her pasterns/fetlocks).
The hair can hold too much moisture and you end up with scratches - dermatitis

.
A lot of white legs are susceptible especially when there's dense feathering.

Frog looks fine right now. I agree with the clipping of the feathering with any muddy conditions. I would also give the horse an area to be in that would allow her feed to dry out daily. Muddy conditions lead to trush and then you will have a frog problem. Maybe give them a squirt of betadine solution or thrush treatment a few times a week when it is so muddy to prevent any problems.

I too would clip.the feathers.... You can also use Listerine the tan one to controle thrush. Store brand is fine, just make sure it is the medicine tan one. My master farrier told me about it years ago. If it gets real wet and you need to dry and harden the frogs use Betadine. If they get real mushey do a Betadine + Sugar pack on the foot. I also confirmed this with my old time vet, he said yes save yourself a ton of money on stuff like Thrush Buster ect. I always keep the tan Listerine in the barn, trailer and truck. I keep it everywhere like Duct Tape and hay twine.

Hope this helps,

Maye
