Host a BYC Traveling Mascot!

Fancy got to take a little trip to Santa Rosa this weekend. We went to help my DSO with a tree fort he is building for his son. Fancy thought this sounded like an adventure! She had no idea.

First she had to meet the resident chooks, who were in chook jail for eating the freshly planted lemon balm.

Here she is, sitting on the coop roof.

Then, we climbed the ship's ladder into the tree fort.

She couldn't believe how tall the redwood tree was.

She was all ready to grab a tool and get to work!

Fancy kept trying to help us by climbing on the scissor truss we were building.

Then, she got caught in one of the ropes we were using to hoist the truss. Oh NOOO!!!

Hosting these mascots is hard work!

We convinced Fancy that the best thing she could do to help was to read the tree house book. Luckily, she really like it!

Tomorrow, I'll post the rest of Fancy's trip to Santa Rosa.

Wow, that is a very big tree!! Looks big enough for a tree house fit for a family!
I guess Fancy has a little bit of tomboy in her! She reminds me of myself as a kid- run, climb trees, get in the way, but aso happy to sit and read!

Quote:
I agree with Bizzy that tree look humongous. But the part where Fancy reminding Bizzy of herself, NOT. Bizzy was never a tomboy, in the suburbs of Philadelphia there were no trees to climb. After moving to Jersey we had one tree which was sutable for climbing, which she climbed on occasion. She did however got one part right about getting in the way and reading books

Time to post the final pics of Fancy's trip to Santa Rosa last weekend.

here she is sitting on the sign by the old railroad depot.

Fancy wanted to know if she could take a train somewhere. Charlie Brown was all dressed up as an engineer, and she couldn't resist his cute boyish charms.
smile.png
She also thought they must have a shared long-lost relative, since their hands were soooo similar.

Everywhere she turned, Fancy had Peanuts characters calling to her to "take the train."

I told her, we can't take a train today. Fancy had to be content to ride on an old Railroad Wagon.

Fancy was sooo eggcited to see Woodstock. She thought he looked an awful lot like a chicken. When I told her I thought woodstock was a roo, she said, "Noooo, can't be. he's in a nest!"
smile.png
Woodstock was happy to show her the town. First he showed her where he pretends to be a fighter pilot up in the sky. Fancy sat in the cloud with him, and admired his uniform.

Woodstock and Fancy had a back-to-back moment. I'm not sure what that was about, but they were giggling the whole time!

Woodstock asked Fancy to go hot-tubbing with him. What a charmer! (Personally, I think it was just a bird bath.

) Still, I think Fancy has a crush on Woodstock.

Fancy got to see a very little bit of the Charles Schultz museum. But, she had trouble seeing everything, so I gave her a boost.

Fancy wondered why Charlie Brown had a building written on his head like a tatoo.

(Oh, and can you see DSO's elbow? He was my partner in crime for these pics.

)

Fancy thought it was silly for a dog to sleep ON the doghouse. She climbed up to see if she could wake up Snoopy.

Of course, when she realized that the doghouse had concrete in the doorway, she said she could see why Snoopy slept on top.

In the park next to the museum, there was a giant doghouse, which was called (what else) The Doghouse.

We stopped in at the Ice Rink and saw a hockey game in progress. OOH, that flash hurts when it bounces off the glass!

Snoopy looked dapper in his tuxedo and ice skates. Fancy insisted on sitting on his top hat. Sometimes that bird makes no sense.

And, Charlie Brown was all ready to show off his skating moves on Fancy.

Outside, on a bench, was Fancy's "best little buddy" since he had a cookie to share with her. The woman's friendship can be bought with food. (Another instance of Can You Spot the DSO?)

Everyboy loves a warm puppy! (It's the name of the cafe at the Ice Rink.)

Santa Rosa has a sister city in Korea. I couldn't pronounce the name, but they gave these two statues to Santa Rosa. They are called, "The Twin Grandfathers."

Then, we had to stop at Western Farm Center, since that is where the Ladies of Orpington Manor were adopted. (They were closed, but that didn't stop us.)

Finally, it was time to go home. Fancy remembered to buckle her seat belt.

It took me awhile to get them posted. Life has been a challenge lately.

I will try to take Fancy to downtown Martinez this weekend, since she hasn't really seen much of the place. I think she will like that more than a hike in the hills.
