20 miles from me and there are small earthquakes there daily..But they have been getting big ones lately.
The semi-dry lake bed opens up once a year so people can dig up minerals, it takes place every October, and it gets messy as in need boots that you do not mind getting muddy..

You should also take time to see the Trona Pentacles, they are amazing!! They filmed most of the Planet of the Apes movies there as well as other movies..

I LOVE rock hunting in Trona. I have noticed the bigger earthquakes there lately and it has me itching to take a ride.

LOTS!!! Of course, you have to know how to recognize a gem in the raw. Garnets are abundant but they are ugly as sin in the raw. And Amethyst looks like asphault on the outside.

Don Webb the former Mayor is my second-cousin,, my son loved Newport Beach, it was the first beach he ever saw.
