Hot climate

I live in South Carolina, which has fairly warm summers.

We're interested in chickens that produce eggs, and can forage. Are there any breeds that are well suited to the heat, or alternately, any breeds to avoid?

Seriously, as long as they have access to shade and cool clean water they should do fine. I'm in the Arizona desert and mine tolerate the heat better than I do as long as they have plenty of shade & water. I do turn misters on on really hot days and don't put babies outside until they have an insulating layer of feathers.

We had 5 days in a row over 45ºC (115ºF) and all mine survived.

Wow, Holland must have moved into the arctic circle...

We just had the best weather expected this year and I was still freezing.

i am in Florida and have RIR hens. they give me great brown eggs!! Our other hen we have noclue what she is but she gives us brown eggs as well.We haven't had a problem with the heatbut choose to put their coop under the oak tree in the shade.

Blue Andalusians are good--any of the Mediteranean breeds, I also have EEs & Ameracaunas who produce steadily, my Welsummer & Marans tend to skip a day in between when it's really hot & humid.
