, I HATE silkies
WHY!? I think they are so cute with their fluffy feathers. And their beautiful crest make them adorable.

Since it is very hard for me to obtain Korean origin breed of chickens. The Silkie is the closet for me to have a Korean origin. Since in ancient times, the Silkies were presence in ancient Korea brought from ancient China.

Yes, the Silkie has black skin and bones. But the appeal of Ayem Cemeni is the fact is a melanistic breed. I love their clean legs of them. :)
Silkie is a mealnisic breed as well. They just happen to come in a variety of feather patterns in addition to black. The comb, waddles, skin, eyes, and internal parts are still more heavily pigmented than non melanistic breeds.. it can be bred into any breed most likely being it's a genetic mutation that occurs..

I like the straight comb and clean legs on Cemani better and also find the hard feathers more functional and usually equally if not more beautiful than Silkied birds.. admittedly though, the Silkies are kinda so ugly they're cute with all their fluffiness in other people's flocks! :love

I think that blue and lavender birds may be getting more and more popular this year 🤔. I, for one, am waiting until I can get even hatchery blue 'lorps for under $25.

I meant to say it all black bird with no color in sight. It like matted black luxury car with black rims. lol

Now I can relate to sleek, sweet, FAST cars, with smooth lines and soft/wide rubber that really grips. lol. :drool

It makes the little girl inside me all giddy! :love

Get your mind out of the gutter kids..
I'm talking about those very pricey tires. :bun

My hubby is first generation Korean immigrant. I considered looking for chickens from there for my Mother in Love who has fonder memories than my husband, but I hadn't found any real cool chickens of Korean origin yet.

Blue is one of my very favorite colors in chicken. And I agree that lavender is popular and will likely continue to become so as it also becomes both more widely available and also accepted into more standards of perfection! :thumbsup

Supposing you mean Australorp not Orpington..

Woah, I didn't realize they could be that cheap! However, I was only looking at one hatchery, which, I've noticed, can be a little overpriced for breeds they consider 'rare'. I'll have to keep those in mind for my next chick order! Yup, I meant australorps (but hoping for lavender orps to be as popular as buffs sooner rather than later)!
