Just on a side note they will not ship eggs or chicks... u must pick them up at the campus in Fayetteville or sometimes they can arrange transport to little Rock...

Mine were hysterical lunatics every time I came near the crate. I couldn't stand it. But they got put in with a docile polish hen who chases them around , and NOW they are happy to see me!!!
She doesn't hurt them.
The University of Arkansas is working with SOP Houdans. They will give you eggs if you go pick them up. From what I understand, they are getting fairly close to SOP after several generations of work. They have a unique project in that they can hatch several thousand every year and cull extremely hard. I got a few chicks this year from them and they have been doing very well. Hardiness has not been an issue in the least. Excellent 5th toe, leg color, etc. They are holding their own in the brooder with 2 other breeds. But as to how they will be as adults, I have no ideaContact Keith Bramwell from UofA.![]()
I would guess, unfortunately, that you are not going to drive from AK to AR![]()
Hey guess what. I'm driving from Alaska to Memphis. It's kind of the same thing!
Anybody have any updates on these Arkansas birds? It seems like I saw pictures of them on another thread, but I can't find them. I would love to hear from some folks that have had them and are working with them.
