aoxa,  thanks for the link.  We may be creating a few Sizzles in the future.  We are supposed to be down to about 20 tonight, our coldest night so far this year.  I guess my flock will handle it better than I.  Keep me posted on Skittles.  I will certainly be sure to post when Spike give us an egg, althought I really don't expect it till sprin at this point.
I'm thinking the same for Skittles. I wont hatch her eggs now anyway. I'd rather her save them for when I do :D

I just ordered a Sportsman incubator. Can't wait to get it!

Well good luck in the spring to the both of you.
We're on the daily omlet plan here. Then again our coldest day is in the high 40s.
I think "winter" here is already finished as it hasnt gone below the 50s for a week now.

Exactly the same as the US.
Up north its cold and full of snow just like Maine, down here in the south of the country its still quite warm just like Florida.
We are almost exactly the same as the US except for the west coast has no water.
The east coast is the same, just change Canada into Russia.

So our winters dont really exist, but if we had moved up north I'd be skiing now.

Second girl is fully online, today was her second egg after a 4 day pause from the first.
If shes anything like her sister it'll be 3 eggs per 4 days minimum.
Getting excited as we have a bunch more to come and a couple "green-eggers" I'm really curious about.

On top of that our oddball A-Level the first to go into production wanted us to be very sure that it wasnt her egg that was laid in the poop.
She in the house flew up on my desk and laid her egg with us watching.

It was funny enough we decided to see if she would do it again.
Today is the 4th day in a row. Most entertaining chicken EVER, more than makes up for her tiny crest.
I have a video too, just need to upload it somewhere.

Any word on Skittles, Puddin-Fluff or any other girls?
They seem very overdue now.

The next day, same deal

Amazing girl indeed
EDIT: Its terribly messy as we hadnt had any students for a couple days and my desk is also where we teach the kids. SO having her up there to mess arround was as good a place as any to us.
Its still just as messy, and all cute, but not as terrible.
Also that's not a beer, its actualluy the computer speaker. Pretty nifty.

Nothing so far from Spike. Her face is getting redder, don't know if it is maturity or the cool weather. I have resigned my self to not expect anything until spring. However saying that, none of my other girls have slowed down in their laying. We are getting steady egg numbers.

Funny story: I was calling everyone in from free ranging and sprinkling treats in the run and as I turned around I saw a freshly laid egg rolling across the pen picking up dirt as it was still sticky. Apparently for one of my red girls, treats overrule the urge to lay!

She did it! Spike laid her first egg!!! I was refilling food and water and noticed her drinking, turned around to dish out food, turned back around and noticed an egg on the ground with chickens wandering around it so I went to pick it p to protect it and thought wow this one is pale and who was the goof ball that plopped it on the ground? It was still warm and upon inspection in the sun, totally white!

I am not even sure Spike knew what she did as she wasn't talking or behaving any differntly? We'll see when the next one arrives. BTW she is 8 months old.
