Skitz, waiting on the continued story. Looking back is good for only one thing: it reminds us of where we no longer want to go. I look backwards to keep myself "green" in the memories of those things that were bad for me and those around me. Keep looking forward and continue growing. Hope it's a beautiful day for you.
I've also been working on the front & back cover of the book so I'm going to be kind of busy next week since I have to finish the cover first, but I'll try my best to post the 2nd chapter by Thursday
and thanks to everyone that is interested in reading this story
Ok, here it is! Thanks to my friend Miranda for editing it
Chapter one- My first few years of life
I still remember when I was a happy boy back then in 2006 before everything changed. I remember feeling free and talking about anything I wanted without getting worried that someone would make fun of me, but now I need to comprehend that the past is the past. In this chapter Im going to talk about my first few years of life so that later on you can compare
how I used to be to what I am now.
When I was six years old I was living in Mexico. I remember everything being so big and nice. The porch was my favorite place because it was so big that I could play anything, even soccer! I used to grab my toy box, take every single toy out, and play with them until I fell asleep.
My favorite toy out of all of them was a little doll, which was my sisters, named Sirenita*. I named her Sirenita because she looked like one with an emerald green tail, blonde hair, and two arms. I took her everywhere I went, including school.
Back then nobody judged me; I was free well except for one person. His name was Rafa, short for Rafael, known as the bad boy in the neighborhood. He was my sisters friends brother. Rafa, was about fourteen years old and liked to play jokes on people, especially on kids younger than him. He would always criticize me on how Sirenita was a toy for a girl, but I was smart and ignored him which made him upset.
I still remember when my sister and I were best friends. We were always together, which wasnt a good thing because I would get jealous when she went with her friends. Every night we would go outside and meet with our friends to play Fútbol*. My sister was a different person when we were around them; she practically hated me, which I never understood till now. I was always on the opposite team from hers because she didnt want me to be on her team.
Every time after we finished playing, she would go with a kid named Roberto (Whom I hated because I was jealous and over protective). I would follow every single step they took until she came back home. I remember one day after we finished playing soccer, she went running with him (trying to run from me) a few blocks away from our house until they got tired. I noticed that a friend of Roberto was following me, but I wasnt worried about him because my eyes were directly and only on my sister. Right as I blinked, I saw them holding hands and I felt this weird feeling in my stomach. I was in shock! To make it worse Robertos friend grabbed me and tried to cover my eyes with his dirty hands. I started to scream and tried to get Robertos friend off of me. I finally took his dirt-smelling hands off of my face and saw that Roberto was about to kiss my sister.
I started to scream louder and ran back to my house. I wiped the tears off my face and saw that my sister was following, trying to catch me. The house was only a few steps away from me when suddenly my sister caught me. She covered my mouth with her and started to tell me not to tell my mom because she might get mad. I took her hand off of my mouth and ran inside screaming.
Moooom! Paty was kissing Roberto!!! Paty was kissing Roberto!!
Juan, be quiet and go to your room She replied angrily.
I went sadly to my room and grabbed Sirenita whom was laying down on my favorite soft blanket.
With my two favorite things, no one can make me sad I said with a huge smile on my face.
A second later I was deeply asleep holding Sirenita as close to me as I could.
I will never forget that night, because its one of those memories that could never forget.
The next day I had randomly said a really rare word; It was dólar*. I knew I had heard that word sometime in my life before, but I couldnt recall where I got it from. Later on I asked my mom about the word and she said that it was the type of money they use in the United States. I asked her if thats where my dad was at and she said yes. My mom told that when I was little we used to live there, but we had to move back to be with the rest of our family. I was about three years old and I didnt remember going to United States so I wanted to go to be with my dad and see the U.S.
Two years later, when I was about to turn eight and my sister was almost eleven; our mom threw us a surprise party. She invited everyone who lived in our neighborhood, including Rafa. There were clowns, food, music, friends, toys, everything that I could imagine which made it the best party ever. I went to get ready so that I could go watch the clowns in action since Ive never really seen any in real life, only in movies. After I was done getting ready, I went to look for my sister so that we could go watch the clowns together, but I couldnt find her. I started to panic like crazy and asked my mom if she knew where she was and she said that she went to the store with a clown to buy bananas. I really didnt know why they wanted bananas for, but they were clowns so they might perform something cool with them. When they came back I went to sit down with excitement and waited for them to do their job.
Are you ready kids for our crazy show tonight? Jaime, the clown, said.
Yes!!! we all replied.
Ok, as you can see Im holding a banana and me and my friend Esteban are going to play a game with it! Esteban is going to turn around and count to 10 while I hide the banana and when hes done counting, hes going to look for it!
We all screamed with excitement and started to count with Esteban.
Ten, nine, eight, seven, six
As we counted down, Jaime stuffed his mouth with the banana and tried to eat it as fast as he could before Esteban and everyone else were done counting. This is one of my favorite parts because Esteban was about to be done counting and Jaime didnt know where to hide the peel. Right before Esteban said One, Jaime quickly stopped chewing and placed the peel on top of his head. Esteban turned around and looked at Jaime with a puzzled look on his face.
What happened to the banana? Esteban asked mysteriously.
Jaime couldnt talk because he wasnt done chewing the banana so instead he pointed to the window behind Esteban and as soon as Esteban turned around, Jaime chewed fast, but he got caught by Esteban. We all laughed like never before and clapped happily.
About an hour or so later, when the clowns were done with their show, my mom announced that we were going to USA. I felt my heart beating faster with happiness and ran to hug my mom because thats what I had wanted to hear since I was six years old. I went running to my room and started to pack all my clothes so that we could leave that instant. *Sirenita- Mermaid, Fútbol- Soccer, Dólar- Dollar.
