How About a Jumbo Co Op

No..The Giant Browns would get bigger than the Butlers, I had all of their varieties at one time

So, what did you feed them? I need to break through a plateau.
I think I know how and I think they are ready. But it would be nice to know and not guess.

edited to add, that I may have already broken through the plateau, but would still be nice to know what they were feed.

12 - 4 = 8 available.

Coturnix that weighing 24oz...my guess they were feeding them lead pellets

Don't get me started with ebay eggs. Most on there claim that they sell Jumbo, when you get the eggs they are measly small standard eggs. My Jumbo Browns/Pharaohs are big, some 14 oz or larger. Now these are hens and they are no Moby Quail. THey lay nice eggs. I have tried to explain to many people who claim they have them, when in actuality, they have the standard size. I do believe that the fertility was lower back then because people didn't know about the feed and were feeding the birds medicated...that is the theory I am coming at. As you all know, medicated feed will make males sterile over time. Also it's not good to pump birds with medication when they do not necessarily need it.

The Texas A and M weren't large to begin with if we are talking 10 oz. They are getting larger today. I am standing by the fact they were developed from the English whites and the larger birds were selectively bred to get that Jumbo size. There are many Texans that have this large quail, I know this. It is rather annoying to hear that this bird does not exist, I know Texas A and M sold it off, and they told me that people are still working on it to get larger, they also told me that it won't be the next chicken, but some people will prefer them over chicken in some societies.

I may have a bead on the giants..But whoever reads this has to send me eggs if they are truly the right quail...

THERE IS ONLY 1 BUTLER IT IS THE "BUTLER GIANT BOB WHITE" IT IS MUCH LARGER (OR CAN BE) THAN ANY COTURNIX STRAIN

I have always been concerned when I hear about Jumbos that lay at six weeks. I have been passing them up when I see it listed for eggs since I've never really thought that Jumbos would lay before 8-10 weeks of age. Larger birds, a bit longer to mature.

Will Jumbos actually start laying at six weeks?
