The Yellow Birchen has played a big part of the Pumpkin Hulsey line. I would like to see some photos of true Yellow Birchens:

I wonder why game fowl breeders give this names to their birds, this birds are no Birchen(ER) at all.

You must be thinking of Lemon Blues/Brown reds if you are thinking of the color of the birds in your pictures and the Crow wing pattern. I don't think your punkin birds are laced though.

I believe that the original Helsey stock were Birchen based.

It's my understanding from research that Mr Hulsey's roosters were primarily red, However some were stolen by an associate call Babb and he crossed in some Birchen, which was called "pumpkin hulseys", I still remember when they were just called "Hulseys", maybe the so called "Yellow Birchens" is where the "Pumpkin" came from. Maybe???

Did the grey bird that sired him throw only greys or just half of them. Bird in lower right does not show evidence of grey / silver gene to my eyes.
