How bad is the H1N1?

I have had it and it WAS WORSE than the seasonal flu that normally runs through here.
I have NEVER been so sick and in that much pain in my life. And I had a horrible recovery from a c sect(my own doing)
I was out for two weeks. I could not work. Couldn't get out of bed. When I made it downstairs I stayed there until I had enough strength to get back up to bed.

The only way to know if you have H1N1 is to go to the local ER and get a test specifically for the H1N1 virus. Your PCP will not have that test in house. If they tell you that they do it is only to test to see if you have the virus type(A) You will be sent(with mask ala Micheal Jackson) to the ER to be tested for it specifically.

You do not want your kids to get this. Anyone that says they had it and it was no worse than the reg flu.. did NOT have H1N1. I was nearly admitted to the hospital. I now work in the hospital and no one that has been in and tested positive for it has said "this is a breeze.. no worse than reg flu"

It was hell. I would only wish it(and the roto virus) on my enemies

We will be getting the shots. Not because I particularly want to, but because my husband is insisting. He works at a hospital and has noticed a big difference in the regular flu patients that come in to the ER and the H1N1 patients that come in to the ER: the H1N1 patients usually end up in the ICU and the regular flu ones usually get sent home. I have one son with asthma, and I will do anything to prevent him from getting sick, even get him, and everyone else in our family, the shot. I'm not sure if I trust the live vaccine, but as soon as it comes available at our pediatrician's office, I will march us down there and they will line up to get it.

I think it hits everyone differently, honestly. If you have a good immune system, it is milder. Since the health department in CA said that the h1n1 is the only active flu in the state, I am gonna go ahead and assume my doc was right. What I am hating about this is the fact that you feel ok one minute and hit by a danged train the next. Throat feels ok, then gets WAY worse. Same with the headache. And this cough! I am gonna hack up a lung here soon.

I am already planning on going back to the doc that doesnt LISTEN!!! I have pnuemonia 4 times!!!

I think the reason the H1N1 is so scary is because of the pneumonia that it causes..many people cant survive that.
I wonder about pneumonia shots? Dont they last like 5-10 yrs or something? Would getting the pneumonia shot be better than getting the vaccine?
