I wonder how small of a space they can get into. Are they nocturnal?
The weasel family includes everything from ferrets and minks to otters. The smallest can easily pass through the 2x3" standard wire we often make our coops from.
Quote:Real small, I have a picture I will try to find for you of a weasel squeezing into an opening smaller then a half dollar.
My brother-in-law is 6'4", 200 lbs. He's a weasel.
Quote:I have one too~~~
Quote:anything 1" in diameter and bigger depending on the breed. lesser weasel is the smallest and can fit through smaller than 1". yes they r nocturnal. a weasel is part of the mustelid family which includes also- mink, skunk, ferrit, otter, wolverine, martin and fisher.
if u don't take the steps to protect ur flock u could loose entire flock. a mink for example will wipe a whole flock out in one nite. a weasel will take a few a night and come back till gone usually. so if u r haveing preditor probs be prepared.
it will keep coming back, and back and back! i know!
I haven't seen a one, I'm just curious cause I see posts about them on here. I don't know if we even have "weasels" where I live...we have skunks of course.
The ventilation on my coop is not covered but they would have to be pretty acrobatic to get in since it is under the eave of the roof. I'm gonna cover anyway.
